Creativity and open-mindedness are what have shaped Project Management Graduate Assistant, Morgan Hagerty, to be an effective leader at the Digital Corps. These attributes have allowed her to tackle even the toughest of projects, such as the IT 2024 Assessment Video.
“It was my first video project at the Corps, and I didn’t know much about how everything worked. I got through it by being open to feedback from the Video Team, who shared a lot of helpful tips about how pre-production and post-production should look. Their advice made a huge difference and helped me feel more confident tackling video projects in the future.”
Morgan’s use of these disciplines does not only stop there, but she believes approaching every situation with an open mind is the best way to learn.
“I approach learning new tasks with an open mind. I am always willing to receive feedback from people because that is what helps us see different perspectives and continually grow.”
Morgan’s favorite project at the Digital Corps was organizing the International Student Welcome Boxes. This project allowed her to connect with many international students with diverse backgrounds.
“It was so interesting to talk with the students, hear their experiences, and learn about the challenges they face moving to a new country. It gave me a whole new perspective and made me appreciate the work we are doing to support them.”
Outside of work, you can often find Morgan enjoying a good book or watching TV with her roommates. She also loves expressing her creativity through photography and sewing — a hobby that began thanks to a Ball State professor that introduced her to a quilting class at Just Quilts in Albany. Since attending the class, Morgan has been busy completing many projects from fixing clothes to making quilts!
Morgan is incredibly thankful for the experiences she has gained through her time at the Digital Corps. She has learned how to work collaboratively with students of different backgrounds as well as gained invaluable experience managing complex projects.
“[Managing projects] has taught me to be more flexible and open-minded. I’ve learned how to communicate more clearly and stay organized to make sure everyone is on the same page. It is incredibly rewarding to take on a project, break it down into specific tasks, and see it through from start to finish!”
Morgan will be graduating with a degree in Emerging Media Design and Development; she then plans to move back to Indianapolis and accept a position at Terraboost Media as a marketing manager. Morgan has been an incredible asset to the Corps and is destined to be successful in all of her future endeavors. Congratulations Morgan, you will be missed!
