Energetic and detail-oriented, Marcus dives fully into every project he takes on. As a Master’s student in Emerging Media Design and Development and a graduate assistant in the Fab Lab, he combines hands-on creativity with organizational skills to keep projects running smoothly.
As an undergraduate, he focused on media production, but by his Junior year he realized he was more interested in building projects for himself and thinking about how people interact with what they create. That shift led him toward user experience and a stronger focus on developing practical professional skills.
Marcus describes himself as a type A student who is pragmatic and methodical. He pays attention to the small details and approaches most things with a project-oriented mindset. What really drives him, though, is curiosity. He wants to understand the ins and outs of everything he works on. His instinctive curiosity motivated him to step into leadership positions within his fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha, as he sought to understand the inner workings that happened behind the scenes.

“I am very meticulous, and I enjoy diving deep into the details to see how systems and processes operate, understanding the why behind things keeps me engaged and constantly learning.”
At the Digital Corps’ Fab Lab, Marcus fills many roles at once. Some people describe him as the Swiss army knife of the lab. Marcus plays a key role in maintaining the organization of the internal systems, ensuring the lab runs smoothly every day. As a graduate assistant, he helps manage scheduling systems, equipment checkout, training materials, and anything else needed to keep the space running smoothly. What he enjoys most about the Fab Lab is simply the environment. Marcus shares,
“The team is collaborative and fun to be around, and the work is hands-on. Watching an idea turn into something physical is one of the most rewarding parts of the job. Getting the opportunity to create things alongside other people adds another layer of energy to the process.”
One of the accomplishments Marcus is most proud of is the progress of the Fab Lab itself. Over the past year, the lab has gone through many revisions and improvements. Marcus played a major role in shaping how the space runs today! Many of the systems he helped put in place will continue to support the lab long after he graduates.

After graduation, Marcus hopes to stay in Indiana for a while and gain experience in the professional world. Eventually, he would like to move to a larger city and explore opportunities in business analytics while continuing to figure out what direction fits him best. Curiosity has guided much of Marcus’s journey so far, and it is likely to keep shaping wherever he goes next. The Digital Corps is excited to see what Marcus’s next creative endeavor will be!
