Student Highlight: Paris Drew

Paris Drew brings a forward-thinking perspective to her role as a Design Master at the Digital Corps. As someone who describes herself as a “big dreamer,” Paris is always looking ahead, constantly thinking about what’s next and how she can continue to grow both personally and professionally.

That mindset has shaped how she approaches her work, especially when faced with challenges. One project that pushed her was the development of the new touch screen board. With so much history behind the Digital Corps, Paris felt the weight of creating something meaningful and representative of the organization. Rather than working through it alone, she leaned into collaboration.

Collaborating with the User Experience and Development teams has helped her better understand the full scope of a project, from the early planning stages to the realistic execution. Through these experiences, she has learned how to communicate more effectively, anticipate team needs, and create designs that work seamlessly within a larger system.

“Talking to everyone and hearing their ideas when I feel stuck has helped the most,” she said. “I know it’s going to be for everyone to see and use in the new building, so I want to make sure it turns out the best it can.”

Paris takes a similar approach when learning something new. She is highly self-driven, often turning to research, videos, and observation to build her skills. When she first joined the Corps, she spent time watching other designers and learning from their processes, an experience that helped shape her own workflow and creative perspective.

At the Digital Corps, Paris especially enjoys working on motion-based projects. Whether it’s animation, video, or motion graphics, she values any opportunity to bring movement into her work.

“I don’t always get to do that outside of the Corps, so I love it when I can explore it here,” she said.

Outside of the Corps, Paris continues to explore her creativity through a variety of outlets. She has a strong passion for photography and videography and is involved in Shebear Cinema, where she can further develop her storytelling skills. She also enjoys embroidery and other hands-on creative projects, all of which connect back to her love of visual communication.

When she’s not creating, you can often find her listening to music or adding to her record collection. Those who know Paris know that she especially loves Elton John. As a die-hard fan, Paris appreciates not just the music, but the bold visual storytelling and artistic expression that defines his work.

“I found design as a way to combat my photography burnout, but then I really found a passion for it,” she said. “It’s refreshing and exciting to see the impact of my work. I can solve problems, tell stories, and see my work out in the real world.

For Paris, design is more than just a skill; it’s a passion that continues to evolve and branch into almost every aspect of her life. Paris has been a phenomenal artist at the Digital Corps, and we cannot wait to see where she shines next!
