Digital Corps employees must be undergrad students currently enrolled at Ball State University with a full time credit hour status. That typically means at least 12 hours of classes. They must also be in good academic standing with the university. Student employees must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Check out the full list of student employment requirements from the Career Center’s website.
Apprentices at the Digital Corps start out working 15 hours per week. All work must be completed in-person in our office. We prefer for you to work at least half of those hours (~7.5) during university business hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) unless your class schedule makes that impractical.
Very. Most new employees will have only one or two required meetings each week. The rest of your work hours can fall anywhere between your class schedule, or even evenings or weekends if it’s a busy class and homework week.
All new employees start out at $10/hour and get paid biweekly by direct deposit. Don’t forget to budget some of your calculations for taxes as well—this will vary depending on your personal situation.
It’s totally okay if you’re just starting out in your field: the Digital Corps is a great place to jump start your skills. We look for people with potential just as much as we look for people who already know it all. Make sure your resume is polished, and take some time to describe why you’re passionate about what you do in your application. If you have any work samples that relate to the team you’re applying for, be sure to submit them. Showing off class work and personal projects is encouraged.
All our new employees spend their first semester completing an extensive 8–10 week onboarding/training program while they learn the basics of each team’s discipline. You’ll be ready to create professional work in no time!
We love to hire early career students and help them grow in their career path! We often have students who work all four years with us during their undergraduate studies.
Our staff has ample experience with adult education! We can help you prep for a career change/move; if you’re looking for a way to get some real-world experience in your field, this is a great place to do so.
Yes, absolutely! If you are hired and have a FWS award, you will be paid like normal with no extra conditions or requirements on your part. Just let us know, and we’ll take care of the paperwork.
It is possible to have multiple on-campus jobs as long as you don’t work more than 20 hours per week. Since Digital Corps work requires 15 hours, you could work up to five more hours at another on-campus job.
Prep your “A game” — there's a lot of competition this year. To begin the application process, please fill out the following pre-screening form.
Note: employment at the Digital Corps is only open to currently enrolled Ball State University students.
